Makarska rivijera, as one of the most famous tourist destinations in Republic of Croatia, is situated beneath the Mount Biokovo, on the southern Adriatic coast. Once it used to be a town of farmers, fishermen, merchants and seamen, but today, Baska Voda is a modern tourist destination, with approx. 2,000 inhabitants and tourist capacity of 10,000 beds in hotels, private accommodation, apartments and camps, only 10 km away from Makarska. It was inhabited in the Roman period, and owing the natural beauty of sea and its location beneath Mount Biokovo, Baska Voda has become a place of plentiful tourist offers, with a large number of private accomodation and apartments for a pleasant family vacation. Besides its sea, sun and nature, Baska Voda offers diverse cultural and entertainment programmes, traditional and religious festivals; those who enjoy an active vacation can choose between playing tennis, football, handball, table tennis, mini golf, fishing, diving or sailing. Wide range of taverns, restaurants, bars, hotel terraces with live music and discoteques offer the whole-night divertissement. Average air temperature in July is 24.3°C with sea temperature of 25.1°C; in January air temperatures are approx. 8°C, and sea temperatures don't go over 13.5°C. This area is one of the sunniest parts of northern Mediterranean, with approx. 2,700 sunny hours per year. In average, Baska Voda has 40 days with air temperature higher than 30°C and only seven days with air temperature below 0°C during the year. Rainfalls of this area also have Mediterranean characteristics, while snow is exceptionally rare phenomenon on the coast but it can be found on the sloaps of the Mount Biokovo. Sometimes, it is even possible to enjoy snow on mountain peaks and warm sea at the same time.


Baska Voda is ideal starting point for many excursions. Because of its geographical location, you can easily visit all major places on the southern Adriatic coast, such as Dubrovnik, islands Brac, Hvar and Korcula; you can also choose to go rafting on river Cetina or go on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje.
